The film I'm making is called Sapiens. A story of innocence, slavery and reality.  

 

Sapiens is about an alternative society that doesn’t farm cows and pigs but humans or sapiens for milk and meat. Leah an eighteen-year-old girl is strangely asked to help out at her cousin’s farm for the weekend but it doesn’t quite go as she had expected. She sees all the cruelty and how similar sapiens are to humans and grows close to a timid one. Her cousin, Johnny is in major debt since his father gave up on the farm after Johnny’s mother died. He can’t afford medicine for the sapiens, to employ anyone else or pay for his slaughtering license. Leah was a way to have free help and also as she doesn’t know about farming he expected her not to find out about his illegal practices but she does and she has to choose between the sapiens life that she had grown close to and keeping her cousin out of jail.

 

Sapiens are feral breed people in captivity. They can’t speak and have animal like characteristics.

 

Since Leah’s father left when she was young it really knocked her confidence. When she goes to the farm she sees the babies being taken away from their mothers and finds it really distressing as it reminds her of her family being split up. After seeing all the problems on the farm, she has to do something.

 

Johnny is 28 years old and has had a hard life and is very hard with his emotions. Now that he is struggling on his own to run the farm he has to take drastic measures to try and save it, as it is all he has left.

 

The other characters in my film are Leah’s Mother and sister, the timid sapien, the mother sapien and the slaughter man.
